Fauquier County’s Board of Supervisors has voted unanimously to approve the on-site power yard at Basalt Ridge Technology Park — clearing the way for the full 300MW campus build-out.

The approval covers a dedicated switching station and transformer yard that will step transmission voltage down for all four planned buildings at Basalt Ridge. With utility interconnection agreements already executed, site work on the yard begins this fall and energization is scheduled ahead of Building A’s completion.

County staff cited the project’s community benefits plan — including $4.2 million in road improvements, STEM funding for Fauquier County schools, and a 40-acre public open-space dedication — in their recommendation. More than 600 construction jobs and 120 permanent operations roles are expected at full build-out.

“This vote reflects three years of honest partnership with Fauquier County. The power yard is the heart of Basalt Ridge — with it approved, our customers have total certainty on power delivery dates.” — Marcus Hale, Chief Executive Officer
